# How to create and send a campaign

> The five tabs of campaign setup — Set up, Message, Audience, Delivery and Review.

## What you will learn

The complete path of an email campaign: from settings to the send button, through message, audience and delivery.

## Before you start

* Verified domain and sending identity configured ([first-send checklist](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/entregabilidade/checklist-primeiro-envio.md)).
* The brand's **Legal name** and **Physical address** filled in under **Settings › Sending** (they go in the email footer) — the send is refused while the address is missing.
* **Editor** role or above.

To get started, click **New campaign** — at the top of the **Campaigns** screen (on a phone, that's where it is) or in the top bar of the other screens — and choose **Email campaign**. In "How do you want to create the email?", pick a starting point: **Interactive templates**, **Build it yourself** or **Import existing HTML** ("Turn an image into HTML" is still *Coming soon*). Once the email is ready in the editor, **Configure sending** saves the template and opens campaign setup. It has five tabs — you can **Save draft** at any time.

## Tab 1 · Set up

* **Internal name** — visible only to your team (e.g. "Black Friday — VIP customers").
* **Subject and preheader** — both accept personalization tags, such as `{{primeiro_nome|Olá}}`.
* **Sender** — display name + any address on your verified domain. The screen warns you if the address isn't registered for [AMP](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/email-interativo/registro-do-remetente.md) (or if it can't tell from there) and if the domain's DKIM is inactive. Reply-To is set per brand, under **Settings › Sending**.
* **Tracking** — opens and clicks are tracked on every send.
* **Campaign tags** — tag the campaign type (e.g. `black-friday`, `launch`) to compare campaigns of the same type in your reports. Tags become available after the campaign is saved — or tag it from the campaigns list.
* **UTMs for Google Analytics** — preconfigured; you can customize each field. Validation warns you if `utm_medium` isn't one of the values GA recognizes, and links that already carry your site's own UTMs are not overwritten.

## Tab 2 · Message

If you came from the editor, the template is already chosen and the **Next: Audience** button skips this tab. Without a template, it shows the "Choose the AMP template" gallery — all interactive with AMP, with automatic HTML fallback and **your brand applied** (logo and colors); the "Create custom template" card is still *Coming soon*. To adjust the content of an editor template, **Edit in builder** (at the top) takes you back to the editor — what you've already filled in on the campaign is saved first.

## Tab 3 · Audience

Build the audience by adding **lists and segments** — the final audience is the union, with no duplicates. Details in [How to define the audience](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/campanhas/audiencia.md).

## Tab 4 · Delivery

* **Delivery mode**: **Send now** or **Schedule** (date and time). **Smart send** shows as *Coming soon* — it isn't available yet.
* **Send pacing**: instant, or spread over 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours — recommended for large lists ([why](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/campanhas/agendar-e-ritmo.md)).
* **WhatsApp**: an email campaign doesn't send WhatsApp. The tab points you to **Automations** — to send a WhatsApp message to anyone who fills in the email's form or clicks, create an automation with a WhatsApp step.

## Tab 5 · Review

The X-ray before sending (**Send summary**): sender — with a note about AMP when the template has an interactive version (whether the sender is marked as AMP-enabled, isn't marked and Gmail should deliver the plain version, or it can't be told from there) —, content, audience with the total of unique recipients, delivery and UTMs. Anything missing shows under "Fill in before sending". From here you run the **pre-send analysis** and send a **test email** (**Send test** is also at the top, on every tab) — both are covered in detail in [Pre-send analysis and test](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/campanhas/pre-envio-e-teste.md).

Nothing pending? **Send campaign** (or **Schedule campaign**).

## Result

With **Send now**, the campaign is queued ("Campaign queued — sending shortly") and you land on the report: the badge shows **Queued** until the send starts, and then the screen follows the send live — you can close it: sending continues on the server. With **Schedule**, the campaign shows as *Scheduled* and goes out on its own at that time. How to read the numbers: [How to read the campaign report](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/campanhas/ler-o-relatorio.md).
