# Connect Shopify

> Linking your Shopify store to Cliqo by authorization: what comes in (catalogue, orders and buyers), how often, and how the purchase reaches the pixel.

Connecting Shopify to Cliqo brings three things: your **product catalogue** (for emails with a product showcase), your **orders** (which feed the RFM segmentation and attributed revenue) and your **buyers**, who become contacts in your base.

On Shopify there is no key to copy and paste. You **authorize Cliqo inside Shopify itself** and come back here.

The connection is **read-only**: Cliqo reads products, orders and customers, and changes nothing in your store.

## Before you start

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Talk to Cliqo before connecting.** Today the Shopify connection is prepared by our team for each store. Write to [contato@cliqo.io](mailto:contato@cliqo.io) with your store's `.myshopify.com` domain. We will let you know when it is ready.

You will also need:

* **The Owner or Admin role in Cliqo.** Other roles cannot connect a store.
* **Owner or admin access on Shopify**, with permission to install apps on the store.
* **The store's `.myshopify.com` domain.** In the Shopify admin it is under **Settings → Domains**. It is not the address your customers use: it is the internal address, something like `sample-store.myshopify.com`.

## Connecting

**1. Open the integrations**

Under **Settings › Integrations**, tap **Connect new store**.

**2. Choose Shopify**

Under **Platform**, choose **Shopify**.

**3. Enter the domain**

In the **Shopify store domain** field, type the domain ending in `.myshopify.com`. Typing just the name before `.myshopify.com` also works.

**4. Go to Shopify**

Tap **Connect with Shopify**. The screen shows **Taking you to Shopify…** and opens Shopify.

**5. Authorize**

On Shopify, check the access being requested — all of it read-only — and confirm the installation.

**6. Come back to Cliqo**

Shopify sends you back to Cliqo. You will see **Connecting your Shopify store…** and then **Store connected**. Tap **View integrations** and open the **Integrations** tab: the store shows up in the list.

> [!TIP]
>
> Do it all in one go, in the same browser where you are logged in to Cliqo. The connection request is valid for a few minutes and only for the account that started it.

Each account links **one Shopify store**. Connecting again updates the existing connection.

## Bringing in the catalogue

The catalogue **does not come in on its own** after connecting. On the Shopify card, under **Settings › Integrations**, tap **Sync everything**.

After the first time you will also see **New only (delta)**, which brings only what changed since the last sync.

Shopify does not notify Cliqo when a product changes. For the catalogue to keep up with prices, stock and new products, sync again.

Two things about how the catalogue comes in:

* **Shopify collections become the categories.** A product that sits in several collections comes in with **one** of them.
* **Products without a SKU come in too.** Cliqo creates its own code for them.

## The orders

Orders arrive **on their own**. On Shopify there is no button to pull orders.

The first read starts a few minutes after connecting and sweeps the store's **order history** in several passes. While that first sweep runs, **no customer is enrolled into a flow because of those orders** — that would send a post-purchase message about a months-old order. Only orders that arrive afterwards reach the triggers.

After the first sweep, Cliqo fetches new orders **once a day, early in the morning**. It is not real time: an order placed today shows up the next day.

Orders appear under **Audience › Orders**. Cancelled or refunded orders are left out.

## The buyers

Each order **with an email address** creates or updates the contact of whoever bought. Orders without an email are left out: without an email there is no way to know who bought.

Shopify customers who never bought do **not** come in through this connection.

**Consent:** a buyer only gets email marketing permission if they are **subscribed to marketing** on Shopify. Everyone else enters the base without that permission. Contacts you deleted, or who unsubscribed in Cliqo, do not come back through the sync. More in [Understand consent and opt-in](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/gestao-de-dados/entenda-consentimento.md).

## The pixel on Shopify

On Shopify, the pixel has **two pieces**:

| Piece | What it measures | Where it goes |
| - | - | - |
| Theme pixel | Browsing, products viewed, cart, clicks coming from email | In the store theme, as in [Install the pixel](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/lojas/instalar-o-pixel.md) |
| Purchase pixel | The completed purchase | On Shopify, under **Settings → Customer events**, as a custom pixel |

Shopify's thank-you page no longer accepts theme scripts. That is why the theme pixel **does not see the purchase**, and the *"Recording a purchase"* step in the pixel article does not apply on Shopify.

The **purchase pixel code is generated by the Cliqo team** for your account. There is no button for it in the app: ask at [contato@cliqo.io](mailto:contato@cliqo.io). On Shopify, add a custom pixel, name it "Cliqo", paste the code without changing anything, save and connect.

This pixel also sends the buyer's email. That is what links the purchase to the contact, even when the person did not come from one of your emails.

The privacy obligations in the [pixel article](https://docs.cliqo.io/en/lojas/instalar-o-pixel.md) apply here too: your privacy policy needs to say the store uses a tracking pixel.

## What the connection does not do

* **It does not change anything in your store.** Cliqo only reads.
* **It is not real time.** Orders come in once a day; products, when you sync.
* **It does not use a webhook.** The Shopify card shows a **Webhook URL** field, but it does not apply to Shopify. Do not paste that address anywhere.
* **It does not replace the pixel.** Orders tell you what was bought; the pixel tells you what was looked at and not bought.

If you tap **Disconnect**, Cliqo stops reading the store. Products already synced stay under **Products**.

## When something does not add up

| Message or symptom | What to do |
| - | - |
| *That store domain isn't valid.* | Use the domain ending in `.myshopify.com`, not the store's public address. |
| *This return link is no longer valid…* | The request expired or was opened in a different account. Start again under **Settings › Integrations**. |
| *Shopify refused the exchange…* | The return page was reloaded or opened twice. Connect again. |
| *Shopify authorized, but the access didn't pass verification.* | Check that you accepted all the access on Shopify and try again. |
| *The Shopify integration isn't configured on the server yet.* | That is on our side. Let us know. |
| The catalogue is empty | Tap **Sync everything** on the Shopify card. |
| Today's order does not show up | Wait for the next day's read. |
| There are fewer contacts than Shopify customers | Only people who bought and have an email on the order come in. |

If it persists, write to us at [contato@cliqo.io](mailto:contato@cliqo.io).
