What you’ll learn
Why Gmail requires a registration to render interactive emails, what it takes to get approved, and what changes after approval. Registration happens with Google, outside the platform: there’s no button in Cliqo that starts it, and approval always comes from Google. This article exists so you know what’s required and what to expect — to arrange your sender’s registration, talk to us at [email protected].How registration works
Google only renders AMP from previously approved senders. Three rules define everything:- Registration is per exact sender address, not per domain. An approved
[email protected]does not register[email protected]— every From address you use needs its own registration. - Approval comes from Google, in a manual process: a real demonstration email is sent from the production infrastructure to Google’s evaluation inbox, along with the official registration form. Yahoo has its own, equivalent process.
- Staying registered is conditional on regular sending — a registration isn’t a certificate, it’s a subscription that stays active.
Before submitting
What Google checks:- Authenticated domain: DKIM passing and aligned with the sender, SPF and DMARC configured. DMARC with a
p=nonepolicy is sufficient — you don’t need to harden to quarantine/reject because of the registration. - A sender with history: an address that already sends regular volume with good reputation. A freshly created address tends to be silently refused — which is why registration comes after warm-up, not before.
- A real demonstration email: an actual campaign from your brand (real branding, links, and unsubscribe), not a test. Google rejects demonstrations that look like tests.
After approval
- Approval ≠ activation. Propagation takes up to 7 days, and only emails sent after activation render interactive. Since Gmail decides at open time, an already-delivered email can start rendering interactive days later, without a resend.
- The registration must stay active: first interactive campaign within 15 days of approval and at least a monthly cadence after that. A registration idle for months lapses silently — emails go back to arriving static, with no warning from Google.
How to follow it in Cliqo
Cliqo doesn’t query Google — it has no way of knowing whether your sender was approved. What the platform shows, per sender address, is what it has on record: whether the address is marked as AMP-enabled. When building a campaign with an interactive block:- In the sender address list, addresses marked as enabled show a ⚡. If you pick an address from the list that isn’t marked, the screen warns you: “This address isn’t registered for AMP sending. The interactive part will be ignored by Gmail.”
- In the Review step, the campaign states what can be said about the sender: “Marked as AMP-enabled — Google is who approves it”, “This sender isn’t marked as AMP-enabled” or, when the address isn’t in the sender list, “We can’t tell from here whether this sender is cleared for AMP”.
