What you will learn

What to check — in order — before firing the first campaign from a new account. The inbox is earned; this list keeps you from starting out in debt.

1 · Domain verified

Settings › Domain with the domain Verified — DKIM is what unlocks sending as your brand (root SPF and DMARC are optional). Without this, you can’t send from your own brand. Full guide in How to set up your sending domain.

2 · Complete sending identity

In Settings › Sending: the From email, the Reply-To and, in the Bulk sender compliance panel, the legal name, the Tax ID (CNPJ) and the physical address. Legal name and physical address go automatically into the footer of your emails, together with the unsubscribe link (which is mandatory and which Cliqo never removes) — Gmail and Yahoo require these from anyone sending at volume. Without a physical address the campaign won’t go out; if the legal name is left empty, the brand name is used, and the CNPJ is optional (it appears in the editor’s prebuilt footer).

3 · Blocklist from your previous ESP imported

If you migrated from another tool, export its suppression list (hard bounces, complaints, unsubscribes) and import it in Audience › Contacts › Suppressions, with the Bulk import button, before any send. Without this, your first send rediscovers, one by one, every dead address the old tool already knew about — and each of those bounces takes a toll on your reputation. When importing, honestly tick only the channels your list has consent for — what that unlocks (and what it doesn’t) is in Understand consent and opt-in. At the end, download the file of invalid addresses (Download invalid) and don’t try to re-import them.

5 · Pre-send analysis and test email

In the campaign’s Review step, click Run pre-send analysis — it checks the domain, authentication, risky words in the subject line, broken personalization tags and the unsubscribe link — and send a test email to yourself (Send test). Open it in Gmail and in at least one other client. Tests don’t count toward metrics.

6 · Small first campaign, with pacing

Don’t fire at your entire list at once: start with an engaged slice and use Send pacing (in the Delivery step) to spread out the send. The why and the how are in Warm-up: how to send to a new list.

Result

Your first send goes out authenticated, to people who can receive it, with suppressions active and clean metrics for you to measure and grow from there.
