What you will learn

What comes ready-made, how to build a segment from scratch and how to combine conditions with AND/OR in advanced mode.

The ready-made ones

In Audience › Lists and segments › Segments, two ready-made families:
  • Email engagement (with an adjustable day window on each card) — AMP engaged, Recently opened, Inactive, Converted, Opened without converting, New contacts.
  • Store navigation (requires the pixel installed) — All visitors, Browsed without buying, Category interest, Cart without purchase, Abandoned checkout.
The nine RFM groups by value × recency — Champions, Loyal, Can’t lose them, Promising, Need attention, At risk, New, Hibernating, Lost — don’t come as ready-made cards: you use them through the builder’s RFM segment dimension. Segments are dynamic: people enter and leave on their own as their behavior changes — unlike a list, which is fixed.

Create a segment

The Create segment builder sits at the top of the Segments tab. In simple mode, choose whether the contact must match ALL, ANY or NONE of the conditions, and add conditions across the eleven dimensions: As you build, the screen shows the natural-language sentence of what you are defining and the live count of how many contacts match.

Advanced mode: groups

For compound logic, click Advanced mode (groups): within a group, conditions are OR; between groups, AND. Example — (opened in the last 30 days OR interacted with AMP) AND (didn’t buy in the last 60 days): two groups, three conditions.

Use, export and delete

  • Click Select on one or more segments: the side panel shows the audience size and offers Create campaign and Export (CSV).
  • Each segment shows where it is in use (“used in N campaigns · M flows”). A segment that feeds an active flow or a scheduled campaign cannot be deleted — the screen explains the block instead of letting you break an automation by accident. Only the account owner can delete segments.
